Challenge
To provide nationwide support to ensure the reliable performance of Unilever’s huge fleet of freezers.
For some years, Unilever sought a specialist provider that understood the nuances of the Out Of Home ice-cream channel, had the software capability to manage and maintain their extensive fleet of freezers, brand assets and signage, and could provide the service support and refrigeration experience to make fast, cost-efficient repairs.
Adding to that difficulty, their database was known to be inaccurate due to the sheer number of assets and parties previously involved.
Deliverables
Brandspec set up a dedicated warehouse and team to get the mammoth task of updating the database and identifying every freezer in use or in storage.
Using our own Mobilisar Software, every single asset had a unique QR code applied. Details of that asset's location, age, condition, depreciated value, repair and service history were entered and became available to key staff involved in the decision to repair or replace.
Upcoming compliance or maintenance requirements such as electrical tagging or re-gassing were also entered into Mobilisar which autogenerated email reminders to ensured important R&M was completed by the due date and in a cost-effective manner.
Now, when a store operator calls to request repairs, an initial diagnosis is made by qualified technicians. If it's a minor issue and repairs can be achieved onsite, then the service request is logged and organised via Mobilisar and progress is updated in real time. Where the fault is more serious, the technician can view the appliance history and assess whether the machine can be swapped out temporarily while the damaged unit is returned and repaired in our warehouse, or whether a permanent replacement should be sent. These recommendations are communicated to Unilever Fleet Management & Ops staff via Mobilisar who make the final decision whether to repair or replace. Whatever the outcome, every part of the process from the initial call, to repair and delivery is updated in real time on Mobilisar.
To reduce freight delivery times, we now use have around 1,000 square metres of warehouse space across New Zealand reserved for freezer assets under repair, refurbishment or awaiting relocation.
